If you have naturally straight hair, it doesn’t mean that you can look down into your hair care routine. However, in fact, you might need a little more day to day maintenance, since straight hair is more susceptible to oil, dirt, and moisture. Here are some tips that you can apply to get the shiny hair of your dreams.

As you have straight hair, then you will need to stick to a regular shampoo routine. It is because hair goes through a chemical process in general such as curly hair tends to get drier and requires less hair wash than normal. While straight hair gets oily and easy to be weighed down that you need to wash it more. You can even go for a daily wash with gentle, sulfate-free shampoo to ensure your hair strands clean and free of build-ups.

Dry shampoos

Because your hair and scalp may be on the oily side, use dry shampoo between your showering sessions or after a workout to cut down on sweat, dirt, and product buildup. Here is how you can use dry shampoo:

Loosely lift your hair up in sections, keep the dry shampoo bottle about 20 centimeters away from the roots and focus on spraying in the root area because this area is the oiliest part. Dry shampoo can absorb excess oil just in the matter of minutes and give your hair a comfortable, refreshing smell. Besides, you also should be able to massage your scalp gently by using your fingers running through your hair.

However, as the matter of fact, dry shampoo cannot replace traditional shampoo because dry shampoos only work great on getting rid of oil but not remove dirt and build-ups on your scalp.

Create volume

If you have thin, fine hair, you might need some products to add volume to your hair. Create lift by using a texturizing spray, then blow drying your hair upwards from the roots. However, you also should notice of the products you use to make some volume boost.  Instead, try a dry texturizing spray since these sprays add thickness all over, they won’t create unnecessary weight at the root, which is a recipe for limp strands later on.

When it comes to conditioner, you should be careful not to overuse it. While textured hair such as curly hair or other chemical suffered hair need more moisture to remain healthy, a lot of straight hair people tend to apply too much of conditioner and make the hair even greaser. When you apply conditioner to your hair, apply to the ends first then combining upward with your fingers. Don’t apply it directly to the roots or the scalp which can wind up with a greasy mess on your hands.

Get the right brush

The brush might seem unimportant but it is also one of the factors that can affect your straight hair condition. To prevent breakage, you’ll need the right brush at the right time. And for straight-haired ladies, that tool is a paddle brush. The best type of brush you can go for is the one made of bristle that is environmentally friendly and healthy for your hair.
